Time Event
12:02a
the road away from Black Rock City
My best year in the desert was 1998, when Canetoad and I flew into Reno, rented a car, and hit the playa as a self-contained unit. So I've decided that my final trip to Larry's Party will repeat this strategy. My organized and dependable partner and I will be flying into Reno on Tuesday, renting a minivan, camping more or less off to ourselves, and not relying on other people for any mission-critical detail.

Yippiee! I finally have a playa address!
...hope there's still *some* people in town to read it.

I'll be at the "Glowball Of Happiness" Camp,

Which is located at Creed west of Dubious (5:00)

I'll be arriving probably Tuesday morning.

That is all for now!
See You On the Playa!

emergency late ride?
A work crunch is unexpectedly keeping me from the desert, and I'll only be able to spend next weekend... Assuming I can find a ride out there so late. If anyone is leaving NEXT Friday, I really, really need a ride out. I'm happy to pay for gas and food on the way, and I'll do my damndest to keep you entertained and awake, but I've got no driver's license. All I intend to bring is some fresh food. Please help?

Questions...
Ok, so here is the deal. All of the options of going with friends to Burning Man have kinda fallen apart. I am seriously thinking about just doing it myself, driving down from Seattle and going it alone. The driving isn't an issue really, although it's a little sketch going through northern Nevada. I was planning just setting up a tent on the playa and then exploring myself, meeting people etc...I went last year with some friends and had a great time, and I've been excited to go all year, now this. Ah well.

Any opinions?
Any stories about going yourself (not with a camp) and just kicking around?
Thanks.

Mad Scramble
Its always the way. Waiting to the last minute to do the Playa prep. This last week has been strenuous, matching shopping excursions with our work schedules. I even bought a truck this year just to haul all my crap up there. But its exciting. Even through this will be my 5th year and twistedcat's 3rd, its still so exciting. We'll be leaving The OC around noon on Sunday.

We're happy to be a part of Gigsville again this year, but we've changed the name of our camp to "Dogs and Cats Sleeping Together". It seemed to fit with the overall theme and reflect current events in our lives.

We hope to have a labyrinth for meditation up by Wednesday. We'll be near the corner of Dubious and Authority (oh the irony). We'd love to meet some of you lovely Live Journal burners.

who the hell let me into a store this close to leaving?
(or worse, after i left)

i've really, really got to stop doing that.
not so much because of the money spent
but i haven't got the damn room for all the crap that i'm like
"oh. yeah. this would be great."

i had five things on my list.
bike basket. air pump. ziplocks. bike light. sunscreen.
they didnt have the last two (or ones i wanted)
got the rest, and then somehow filled the cart.
it all seemed practical. (well maybe not the 52 clothes hangers, but i've got a 10' clothes rack, somethings got to fill it. and it's $.88 for 13, how can you not?)

the rest of the basket...i dunno.. it just happened.

like it does. every year.
hopefully i've spared myself from doing this in reno.
especially since i'm in the middle of packing all the stuff i bought in reno last year
(so at least it was good stuff)
(except the crappy bike baskets i got there. but they were all sold out. go figure :)

welp. we'll see how this all works out.
