Decompression Plans?
Decompression is a vital part of the burn experience. After such an intense experience, physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, we require a chance to renew and reintegrate ourselves into the Default World. For some, decompression is just a state of mind. For others, it's an elaborate ritual.

How do you decompress?

Post BM in SF
I'm staying with my uncle in SF and don't really know anyone here.

I came from Austin, had a fantastic 1st Burning Man experience, and wanted to spend some time exploring the city before I go home (or possibly to L.A. if I can get a hold of the friends that I have there.

Did anybody else happen to make close friends with the guys who made the flower art mobile? You'd know what I'm talking about, but I accidentally stuck this guy's contact info in a bag in a bag that I put on the community truck back to Austin... I know, I'm a sod...

Anyway, I'm going exploring tomorrow, taking some public transit and checking out whatever I can.

I'm most interested in local art, cool coffee shops, a thrift store where I can find a cool coat, and maybe strolling the park for a while. I'm also interested in BDSMness, seeing a good show of some kind, music, whatever.
Anyone know where to go to hear the sort of stuff they had going on in the nine o'clock area? Those were mostly L.A. kids. I liked their sound.

I'd really like to meet other burners in this area.

I'm staying on the west side of town on Irving, which is three blocks south of the park, and not far from the ocean. I've been briefed on the transit system, but am unfamiliar with it...I'm not too worried.

Anyway, what's the skinny? Any groups getting together or anything?

Oh, and I'm not interested in the peace festival...damn hippies ;p

Tips for next year?
This year was supposed to be my first burn but due to many unfortunate circumstances I did not make it. My travelling companions and I have made a vow to be there next year (I believe my exact words were: We have to go or I'll explode...). One of them has been before but the rest of us have not. My question to you, since you're all fresh off the playa, is what tips would you have for me? What did you wish you had? What did you bring but didn't need? Any advice for a first timer? Any tips on how to make sure it happens for me next year? Anything at all?

I also wanted to ask what the weather was like out there this year, I have yet to see anyone mention it in their posts.

Also wanted to add that all of your posts post-playa are making me all that much more sad that I didn't make it this year and twice as determined to be there next year.

Thanks!

A Question for Fellow Burners
For those of you out there who went to Burning Man this year; I was wondering if any of you stopped by Spike's Vampire Bar. I also wanted to know, if you did, what was it that you liked, didn't like, could be improved upon. Any and all input would be much appreciated.

Signed,
Phoenix (Spike's LJ face)
