SO frustrating

ok, so after 3 1/2 hours of refreshing the tickets page, I managed to get through to the final paypal screen, enter my credit card information, etc.

I'm coming from New Zealand, and I don't have a paypal account, so credit card is the only option available to me.

I entered all the information, and paypal came back with: "The credit card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit card number."

Is anyone with more experience of paypal able to explain to me what this means, in human talk?

This is a valid credit card, with a lot of credit on it. I've purchased things off the web with it within the last month. As far as I know all the information is correct.. and yet?

I've emailed paypal, but I doubt this as high a priority for them as it is for me. I'm so frustrated. Can anyone help?

[edit: I've just got off the phone from VISA. Not only is the card valid, but paypal have kindly charged me two separate $1 charges, all the while refusing my card. *sigh*]

[edit2: the solution? a) changed their signup so you could put in credit cards without going through paypal. VERY good. boo paypal. b) get a friend to pay for it on their credit card. So yay! going! Thanks for all the help guys, if nothing else it helped me not go too crazy *grin* see you all on the playa!]
